Introduction
Have you ever wondered why after so many years in mainstream gaming, no AvP RTS was ever made? I did, many MANY times. Behold I have created an entirely new game in words; behold AvP: War. The first ever AvP RTS! This is an article that fantasizes about a possible AvP RTS game, what would it be like - what kind of units and structures can we expect. Within this article trilogy I have summed up my thoughts regarding such a revolutionary game. Thoughts that will require dedication to read through, I confess this trilogy is big, but you can overcome the obstacle before you if you put your ass into it! Now give it a go and read through this intricate roller coaster ride.

General : Part One

Story
In the year 2320, Humans have colonized numerous planets in the galaxy. One planet, Calypso which is populated with a significant amount of humans is on the brink of an apocalypse, for a mysterious derelict spacecraft crashed into one of its vast cities, it contained "alien" creatures that soon infested the city and are heading towards the rest of the planet. The only hope for Calypsonians now is the passing USCM freighter "Lazarus" which has picked up their distress call and is heading towards the contaminated planet to rescue the remaining human populace. Drawn by the heat of the battle are the Predators, which haven''t been seen in a fairly long time by humans; Their intentions were ''good'' at first, wanting only to hunt prey but when their Clan Elder is attacked by an "alien" parasite, they became enraged and decide to avenge their leader. Now as the Calypsonian Armageddon nears, 3 species are brought together by war, they will clash and collide until the victor rises upon the blood drenched battlefield, and claims their prize... SURVIVAL!
USCM Perspective:-
The USCM aims to defend the remaining human beings while they try to evacuate them from Calypso, they do this alone since Calypso is a lonely planet -any reinforcements will take weeks if not months to arrive, and by then the Alien infestation went beyond critical and into terminal. The USCM discover the Predator presence but decide to take no offensive action yet, but rumors have been circulating that Predators are collecting human trophies belonging to the innocuous Calypsonians, if this is confirmed then the USCM must try to fend off this new enemy.
Predator Perspective:-
The Aliens dragged the Predators into this war, when they attacked their Clan Elder and turned him into one of them. The Predators join to avenge their honorable leader and hunt for trophies in the process. Predators realize the human presence and will attack them for hunting purposes only, they have no intention of waging war against them; not true for the humans.
Alien Perspective:-
The Aliens have engulfed lots of planets with equal deadliness and lack of mercy, same could be said or Calypso. The derelict that was carrying the Aliens is ancient, roaming space for centuries but now after it finally landed; the Aliens will unleash hell upon the host planet. Aliens aim to capture every possible host they find on Calypso to secure their future as the dominant specie on the planet.

Environment
Calypso is a rocky mountainous gray planet. It is rich in minerals and thanks to 100+ years of human colonization, some water lakes can be found. Calypso is a small planet, the size of Mars yet it is dotted with enormous human cities all over. The human population on the planet is a little over a billion, and increases at an average of 40,000 a day. Calypso also has narrow list of Flora and Fauna other than humans listed below.
Dogs - Where man goes, so does his canine friend, many dogs can be found in the human cities, usually stray and all alone. The USCM can use dogs to seek out out humans fast and easily. Predators usually disregard these creatures, but the dogs seem capable of ''seeing'' Preds regardless of the cloak. Aliens have the most use of these creatures; they use them to unlock a strong breed of Aliens.
Livestock - Common where ever humans are found, various animals such as cows and goats are found on the outskirts of human cities. These animals help support human societies with what they can offer from food to fertilizer. Special structures called Biospheres, act like future farmhouses; these structures are one of the most likely places to find livestock. There is little use for such creatures for the marines but for Predators, they offer a healthy free meal which replenishes a lone Pred''s health instantly. For Aliens they offer the most use, they can be used as host to breed a special breed of ferocious Adult Aliens and they also act as easy and quick meals that completely replenish an Aliens health, yet the former has much more rewards.
Indigenous Fauna - Many people claimed to have seen stone-like creatures hidden within the rock planes. Nicknamed Rock Lizards due to their scaly body, this indigenous creature is a reptile of some sorts with a rocky back that allows it to blend perfectly with the rocky Calypsonian environment. Rock Lizards are the size of a terrestrial horse with 4 limbs and small-flat head. They pose no serious threat, but they have been known to attack anything that comes too near. These lizards are immune to facehuggers due to their odd shape.
Indigenous Flora - Thin black and spiky trees grace the Calypsonian planes, the weed trees form intricate forests that cannot be crossed by humans unless they use an APC, they can be however used by the Aliens as hiding places, since Aliens blend very well with the forests. Weed trees are very dry and can be easily shattered by high impact weapons or even burned. Humans can use flamethrowers to ignite an entire weed forest almost instantly and burn all that it hides.
Calypso is a barren planet, its unknown whether it has more flora and fauna, but numerous sightings of flying bird-like creatures at Calpysonian mountain ranges restore faith that there may be more to be discovered.
Calypso also contains various Steam geysers that burst every few now and then; this is rumored to be due to the planets fiery core. Steam Geysers are dotted all over Calypso and it is cautioned not to approach them since they erupt violently and affect a large area. Some people claim that they saw Steam Geysers burn down flying aircraft that happened to be passing over it. Calypso also mysterious rock formations, various pointy rock towers and stone blocks placed over each other in a questionable manner.
Calypso has also rain, and day/night cycles which affect game play. Rain has a profound effect on Predators since it disables the cloak of Pred units and structures, it also short circuits the Marine motion detector, forcing it to pick up multiple signals that may confuse a player. During night phases, all projectile weapons lose 40% of their range, which includes base defenses. Aliens gain the most out of night phases, since it makes them semi-invisible, this with the combination of their lightning speed means death to wondering units.
The player views the world isometric-ally, like C&C TS - the graphics are 3D like Empire earth. The player has the ability to zoom in/out but not rotate, all units, objects, and structures are 3D just like Empire Earth. The mapped is plagued with Fog of War, which is a transparent sheath that covers the map and hides units and structures. Unlike other games Fog of War in AvP War will reveal an area but then slowly, very slowly cover it up again. Fog of War does not affect the Predator''s Macro-Vision modes or the Marines motion detector. The Alien pheromone system works in Fog of War but the aura is dimmer and trails do not appear.

Campaign Mode
USCM Campaign:- Sample Missions
Apocalypse Now - The USCM land there troops on Calypso, there first mission is to establish a stronghold. Everything starts normal until the discover the city of Jurox, it has been infested with Aliens. U receive orders to scout the city in search of survivors.
Hunted - After a successful rescue in the city of Jurox, the USCM discover the presence of a Predator ship which crashed on the outskirts of Jurox. When they find it, they see an ongoing battle between Predators and Aliens. Your mission is to survive the onslaught until a dropship comes in and picks up the remaining humans and re-locates them, ur presence in this area is no longer needed.
Tower Power - The Tower of Calypso is the largest man made structure on Calypso. It lies in the center of Calypso''s capital city of Titan. The Tower of Calypso is being infested with Aliens while the Calypsonian Leader lies trapped inside. Ur mission is to rescue him by luring the Aliens away from the tower.
Escape - Your work is done in Calypso, U saved as many humans as u can now u must escape this barren planet. The Lazarus itself will be landing in the primary USCM base on Calypso. Your mission is to survive the Alien invasion and the Predator sneak attacks until the Lazarus lands, then u will be able to leave. Remember most of the human population that u have rescued are in this base, a facehugger breach will be costly.
Ending - The Lazarus successfully leaves Calypso, the Aliens and Predators remain there fighting, seeing who will be the last one standing. Yet in the dark corners of the Lazarus, we get a glimpse of a small creature, it scurries across revealing its identity, a chilling demise?

Predator Campaign:- Sample Missions
The Hunt Begins - U landed earlier upon Calypso, but ur clan ship was infested with Aliens forcing u to crash land. Upon landing u face a swarm of Aliens, defeat them and establish a small camp until reinforcements arrive.
New Prey - The earlier battle was horrid, causalities were minimum but u lost ur clan leader. In order for u to avenge ur beloved leader u must, u must learn more about this barren planet. U sense a 3rd faction nearby, seek it and discover its agenda.
Arrival - The Predator Shuttle has arrived with reinforcements, make sure it lands safely. Once it does use all that u can to establish a stronghold.
War - The Aliens have invaded, can ur base withstand the violent onslaught? U must kill off the Alien presence completely and escape! The humans are also trying to escape the Alien abyss.
Ending - The humans failed to escape, their precious Lazarus was swallowed alive by the swarms of Aliens. While u are floating silently through space u hear a scurrying sound, u turn and find none of ur predator crew... something is wrong, u go on searching in ur ship and u find one of ur predator comrades lying dead on the floor; they appear to have a hole in their chest... the end?

Alien Campaign:- Sample Missions
Collision - Centuries have passed since u last seen another life form. Now fate has placed u on a collision coarse to the newly colonized planet of Calypso. Ur ancient derelict spacecraft crash/lands directly into the Calypsonian city of Jurox. U must quickly establish a hive in the city, use what ever "resources" u can find.
The Hunter Becomes the Hunted - A Predator ship has landed, their intentions are to hunt u down, show them whose boss - kill their clan leader!
Meat Grinder - The humans are trying to save the capital city of Titan. They have clustered together in an attempt to save its human population. They do not realize that they have made themselves easier targets. Predators have also established sentries through out the city in hopes of hunting worthy prey. U must destroy all threats in the city and infest the Tower of Calypso; from there we can establish a new hive.
War - The Human ship Lazarus has landed, it will take off soon. U must stop it. Penetrate the human base and hijack the Lazarus with a single Alien. U must survive, u face two enemies, but once the Lazarus is under ur control u will kill two birds with one stone...
Ending - Aboard the Lazarus, ur Alien minion kills the pilot crew and causes the Lazarus to crash nose down into the battlefield. A massive blast expands over the Calypsonian landscape destroying everything in the immediate area. As the smoke dissolves over the desolated battlefield, a group of Aliens emerges from the ruins... victorious...

FAQ
How would you construct units?
Well the whole interface is similar to that of Starcraft; to build a unit u select the structure that produces that unit and select that unit. Same could be said about researching technologies.
How would you construct structures?
Again like Starcraft, by selecting the special construction unit, engineer for marines, adult alien for aliens and probe-technician for Predators and selecting the structure u want them to build from the tab that appears; construction will commence slowly but increase in speed the more construction units there are working on a single structure.
How would you sell structures?
Selling is not possible, but there are alternatives. Preds and Marines can self-destruct their structure, which will give back 25% of the structures original price. Aliens must recycle their structures, by selecting the adult alien and allowing it to recycle a certain structure which will boost that adult aliens resin (50 resin points extra) units above the max limit which is 100 for a short period of time, recycling can only be done by a single adult alien per structure.
Describe the control panel.
The Control panel unlike various RTS games is not on the side but like Starcraft on the bottom. It is hidden until a unit is selected. When selecting a structure, a tab relating to that structure will pop up showing u the various features, same for units. If u want to use a units other abilities, then select that unit and when the tab pops up from the bottom select the weapon for that unit that u wish to use... just like Starcraft! =P
