Thoughts on possible foes

Each species has it''s share of ennemies to encounter, but all these characters are present on the map despite what species you play. here''s a list.
Low-level threats: (1-5 Exp.)
Face huggers: Just those pesky little things that are incredibly difficult to hit. Contrary to PC avp, face huggers don''t kill you out right, but try to strangle you till you pass out. This diminishes your health progressively (but rather quickly!) so be sure to rip them off. To rip FHs off, use the knife or wristblades. Some acid damage may ensue.
Eggs: not threatening in themselves, but may hide a Face hugger. (Note: in deeper reaches of the hive, alien eggs can be found on walls and ceillings)
Chest bursters: The lowest form of alien, it is more anoying than dangerous, but it WILL kill you if you dont take care of it.
Civilians: Not much of a threat at all. Civilians sometimes carry a pistol or shotgun, but their shaky morale has them hesitating long enough for you to take em down. As a pred, killing armed civilians dont give you Exp. and unarmed civilians actually substract to your Exp.
Cocooned civilians: The same as eggs, but may carry chest bursters. Note however that some of them can be saved, meaning more Exp. for the marine :) .
Coporate guards: Your standard security guard, armed with low end weapons. an easy takedown.
Corporate Synthetics: Look like civilians, but are heck of a lot harder to kill. Biting them wont give you health.
Mid-level threats: (6 – 15 exp.)
Alien drones: Standard alien, mostly found in groups of three or four (up to twenty in those desperate moments), they crawl up anywhere and take a reasonnable amount of ammo to take down. They sometimes bust through walls, floors or ceillings. It takes only one of them to end your trip if your not careful (even as a pred!). They sometimes attempt to pull you through vents or holes (might make you discover a hidden passageway :) ).
Dog aliens: Basically, faster but weaker drones.
Marine grunts: Equiped with your standard uscm gear, including Pulse rifle, flamer, smartgun, and sometimes motion detectors (you can hear them detecting you).
Marine officers: Less heavily armed, but faster on their feet, and often accompanied with a whole bunch of marines.
Sentry guns: Those automated bullets-to-the-flurry turret guns you know and love. It''s almost imposible to take them head on, find a way around them or shoot em from a distance.
Corporate mercenaries: Those big "bear-suits"; slower but sturdier than marines. Carry about the same arsenal (no smartgun though) plus the occasionnal grenade launcher.
Predator young blood: Freshly blooded, but still unexperienced. They carry a Speargun that they use from a distance. They are less deadly than their hunter cousins, but dont let those three little dots on you!
Loaders: Big and slow, not very efficient combat-wise, but a scared civilian might just run into one of those to try n hit you with those big pincers. Takes and deals lots of damage.
High-level threats: (16 – 25 Exp.)
Predator hunter : Will often try to blast you with their shoulder cannon until you get up close. Then it''s spear time.
Predator stalker: Tends to drop in uninvited. Those preds will follow you, cloaked, for a while until you stop. Stalkers favor close combat but they occcasionnaly use the plasma caster or net gun if their prey tries to get away.
Marine veteran: Just as armed as the standard marine, but featuring the reflexes and quick judgement of the officer. Dont be surprised if a veteran starts lobbing hand grenades at you from a safe spot.
Corporate elite : "White bear-suits" akin to those seen at the end of alien 3. They carry high-end weapons such as the laser rifle (variant of CMTMs plasma rifle), the long-ranged flamers (Draco double burner) or the rail gun.
Combat synthetics: Big and bulky and carry a very heavy chain gun which makes them walking sentry guns.
Alien Warriors : Sometimes in a large pack of drones, you''ll spot this tall and imposing figure. The alien warrior is incredibly agile and powerful.
Dog alien warriors: The dog alien warrior is often encountered in solitary contrary to the standard warrior. Which is a good thing since its mobility makes it an even deadlier foe.
Predaliens: Very rare thank god. Those things arent avp 1 or 2''s big hulking alien. They appear simply as a slightly different and slightly taller alien warrior. They are slower but incredibely powerful. Any hit from a predalien will kick you character several feet back.
Bosses:
Predator ship intrusion defense system: As the marine or alien, you must battle this multi-moduled automated device in order to gain access to the predator ship area.
Predator champion: Lurking deep inside the hive, looking for a challenge. The pred champion combines all his brother''s techniques and adds his deadly smart disk to the lot.
Predator Elder (possibly with a name): The alien campaign''s ultimate ennemy is the predator elder. It attacks mainly in close combat, but with a furry of hits induced by it''s naginita/elder sword combo. He uses his shoulder canon and wrist rocket sparceley.
Prototype combat synthetics: This pair of robots are specially engineered to take on aliens. They are equiped with long range flamers and incidiary grenades that flood the level with flames. The best way to defeat them is to try n stay in the air and avoiding surfaces.
Dropship: Seems the company doesnt like predators to intrude on its little experiments so here''s the cavalry. Only damage to the cockpit will count. This is a long ranged fight so keep that Sift recharger ready, make sure you have plenty of spears and dodge those missiles!
APC: Not really a foe, more like a test of endurance. As the alien, you have to disable all of this rolling APCs external systems and steering while being shot at from the inside. You must crawl your way unsafely close to the ground in order to break the steering. dont fall.
Mercenary bad guy (name has yet to be found):
This guy is one of the "White Bear Suits". He sports one whoopass of a railgun and a chaingun for close encounters. He loves to camouflage in those big crate boxes only to come out with a sniping surprise.
Combat Loader: Early "Alice" prototype, this thing is piloted by one of the bad guys. It packs a range of missiles, a machine gun and a flame thrower. It''s still not very mobile though.
Praetorians: aka: juvenile queens: as you get closer to the nest as a marine, those walking tanks attack you. At first there is only one, but then they attack in pair. You also face one as the predator. Only explosives seem to phase them, so it''s a good thing there are those methane gaz pockets floating around there. right? They tend to blow quite large though.
Mother alien: Perhaps even more challenging than her majesty herself is the so-called "mother alien"; Contrary to its name, it doesn’t give birth to any aliens, but rather it is the first warrior to be born, the one that had to prepare the nest for the arrival of the queen. By the time the hive is fully developped it has now grown incredibly large yet retains all of its nimbleness. This should prove a most challenging fight even to the best of hunters.
Alien Queen: The mother. You face her deep inside the hive as a marine. Be sure you have plenty of health packs and a fully upgraded pulse rifle, cause she aint alone in there; there is a sample of every alien you fought so far protecting her. Step out of the way when you see her opening her mouth!
Predalien Queen: The abomination that popped out of your master (the “Elder Predator” captured at the end of the alien campaign) and now replaces the queen (which was killed in the marines campaign). It doesnt have as large a hive to depend on, but it itself is a fortress of might and toughness. Be wary of her barbed tail that just swipes everything in its path.
